Tara Ottenstein, CSW
“Mental health is not a destination but a process. It’s about how you drive, not where you’re going.”
Educational and Professional Background
I earned my bachelors degree in Child and Family Studies at Weber State University and my Masters in Social Work from The University of Central Florida. My time in clinical practice has been spent in private practice here in Utah.
I am passionate about helping individuals learn to process and cope with both trauma and daily life. I believe in order to be an effective therapist I need to provide a safe and knowledgeable environment for my clients. I enjoy being able to help others understand and communicate with their loved ones more effectively.
I specialize in working with children and youth in managing stresses of young life. I also enjoy working with women and the difficulties that come with mental health.
I hope to help individuals and families feel more at peace with themselves throughout the therapeutic journey. I have training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Family Systems work, Mindfulness, Play Therapy, Perinatal Mental Health and other evidence based therapies.

Personal Interests
I enjoy traveling and experiencing new places and I have an intense love for reading. I am married and a mom of two as well as dog mom to an obnoxious German Shepherd.
